Internet Safety

Internet Safety Resources

Internet Safety is an issue that we take very seriously at St. Charles East High School. To begin to inform our school community about important Internet Safety issues, we have set up this website to provide resources to support our education efforts.

Internet risks are not always clear while they are taking place. We encourage our students to be proactive and talk to an adult when they find themselves in a situation where things seem strange. Parents are always the first people to talk to, but students may also talk to an adult they trust here at East High School, including:

  • The Police Liaison Officer
  • Deans
  • Guidance Counselors
  • Social Workers
  • and
  • Teachers
  • especially if they are concerned that issues they face on the Internet may become relevant here at school.

Internet Safety Presentation- This presentation is given to every student this year to help students understand how to use internet safely. Topics that are covered: Being positive online, posting photos online, privacy, geotracking and creating a positive digital portfolio.

How to ask about or report suspicious activity:

The St. Charles Police Department has advised our students to speak with the Police Liaison Officer during the school day if they have questions or concerns regarding their safety. Outside of school hours, contact the Police Department’s non-emergency number at (630) 377-4435 or make a 9-1-1 call if the danger is immediate.
