STCE Drama Club

STCE Drama Club

Drama Club is an opportunity for anyone who loves the arts to get involved. Whether onstage or offstage, Drama Club has a spot for you!
We meet every first Wednesday of the month in the Black Box theater to play theater games,
learn about backstage aspects, stage makeup, stage combat and more! See you there!

DO CREW!

One of the most fun and important aspects of theatre is the most forgotten one...CREW!  We need your help to create fantastic sets for the plays this year!  No experience required, come for a learning experience!  Look at the Crew Call Board (right next to the drama club call board) for the crew schedule. The best part?  You don't have to memorize lines to get involved with theatre!
Come join in for the fun; you won't be sorry!

The Cloak and Dagger Society

This year students have the opportunity to be a part of a backstage society.  The Cloak and Dagger Society is open to those interested in props, costumes, and makeup for the shows.  Throughout the year members of the Cloak and Dagger Society will have the opportunity to read the scripts beforehand and take part in special searches for specific props and costumes.  Students involved can also be members of crew or act in the plays, but they have a unique passion for the nuances of theatre that make the shows spectacular.

Call Board

Looking for Drama Club information or audition dates?  Check the Drama Club Call Board.
All the current Drama Department information will be posted there, in the music hallway across from the choir room (C130).

Theatre Fest

Every year, students from all over Illinois meet at either the University of Illinois or Illinois State University for a weekend in January, participate in workshops, see shows, and watch the best in the state perform in the All-State show.  This year it will be held January 11-13, 2018 at
Illinois State University in Bloomington.  Keep watching the call board if you are interested because we can only bring 30 people.
The trip is open to sophomores through seniors.  The trip will cost about $150, but it is worth every penny.

Field Trips

In addition to Theatre Fest, the STC East Drama Club will be taking a few other field trips this year.  We plan on seeing one professional show each semester.  Last year we saw A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder and Chicago in downtown Chicago.  Keep checking the callboard and come to Drama Club meetings for more information because space is limited!

International Thespian Society

The International Thespian Society is a group of motivated students who earn points by working on shows and other theater related events throughout the year.  This is the theatre equivalent to NHS, MHS, SNHS, etc.  To become a thespian, you must participate in at least two shows at East and earn 10 or more points.  Any questions?  See a Drama Staff member, Mrs. Bundy, or Mr. Mizanin.  For more information visit: www.edta.org.
