Staying Copyright Compliant

Working in a school as an educator or a student poses us with difficult situations regarding the use of copyrighted works. Teachers want to provide the most relevant, engaging, and up-to-date materials for their students, while students are often given assignments and projects that require them to use copyrighted materials.

Even in our media-rich society, virtually all of the information that comes to us has some sort of copyright protection. Learning to use this information ethically can be tricky.

The purpose of these pages is to point out relevant copyright issues and give teachers and students some basic guidelines for how to stay copyright compliant.
