Assistant Principal - Instructional Programs

Assistant Principal - Jim Richter

It is with great pleasure that I serve St. Charles East High School as the Assistant Principal of Instructional Programs.  In this role, I work closely with the staff on scheduling, curriculum design, professional learning communities, and instruction.  Additionally, I have the opportunity to work with teachers of English Language Learners as well as the School Improvement Team.

I enjoy working on the curricular side of education, which includes being a school liaison to the Office of Learning and Teaching and facilitating the implementation of instructional practices indicative of the 21st Century learner and classroom.  I also have a great deal of interest in the assessment and grading practices that are supportive and reflective of student learning.  Furthermore, I look forward to assisting in the integration of Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards into our district curriculum and the resulting instructional practices.

After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology and Environmental Geoscience from Northern Illinois University, I started my teaching career at East as a science teacher in 2004 and served two years as the department’s lead teacher.  In that time I earned a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University, and National Board Certification.

Outside of school, I am kept busy with my four children, three daughters and a son.
